How to Make Your Own Cold Brew Coffee!

Do you love the taste of cold brew coffee, but just can’t afford the $4.00+ it costs these days?! I feel you, and I have a solution for you! Make your own cold brew coffee at home. It will not only save you money, but it will also save you the time it takes to get to your local coffee shop and wait in line.

There are only a few steps to this and you will not be sorry you tried it, I promise! All you need is a french press or a large mason jar & a fine mesh strainer, some coarse coffee grinds, and about 12 hours of time! That’s why this is so great, just mix your coarsely ground coffee with cold water when you get home from work, place in the fridge overnight to brew, and you will wake up to your very own cold brew waiting for you.

Servings: 2-3

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of your favourite coffee, coarsely ground
  • 4 cups cold water

Method

  • Add coffee grinds to your french press or mason jar and pour cold water on top. Mix thoroughly with a spoon. Place in the fridge to brew for 12-16 hours.
  • When you are ready to have some, press your French press if using, or strain coffee through a fine mesh strainer, or alternatively if you don’t have a fine mesh strainer, use cheesecloth over a strainer.
  • Add in some cream or milk, and sweetener if you need it and enjoy!

I have a PHEc tip for you as well in order to make the most out of your cup!

If you are anything like me, and drink your coffee slow you know how annoying it is when it gets watered down by the mound of ice cubes that coffee shops throw in. Make ice cubes using your cold brew so that your drink stays cold longer, and once the ice cubes begin to melt, it’s just more delicious coffee in your cup! Just brew an extra batch of cold brew, and pour into ice cube tray and the next day you will have cold brew ice cubes.
