Toronto Home Economics Association

Picture
Toronto Home Economics Association (THEA) was founded in 1938 as a professional association for Home Economists in the Greater Toronto Area.  Currently 80 members represent interdisciplinary fields of practice committed to educating others on building healthy homes.   Members work in diverse areas of food and nutrition that encompass dietetics, food styling, recipe development, food service administration and marketing.  Consumer and student education are also key interests with careers in interior and textile design, teaching, financial counselling, research, and journalism.   Consumer affairs, gerontology and child development are also special interests of members.
THEA promotes the well-being of individuals and families, acquires and disseminates knowledge of common professional interests and promotes high professional standards while striving for increased recognition of all facets of Home Economics.

THEA sponsors the Elizabeth Chant Robertson Award- a scholarship for a Ryerson 4th year Nutrition and Food student.
All are welcome to our quarterly meetings - see the current Newsletter for details.
